For consumers

As a consumer, you have rights under the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice.

The Code is a set of promises outlining how Australia’s credit unions, mutual banks and mutual building societies should behave in their dealings with you.

Collectively known as customer owned banks, they have pledged to put their customers first by signing up to this voluntary code of conduct. (Not sure if your customer owned bank subscribes? Check our Code Subscriber register.)

Read on to learn more about your rights under the Code – and how to defend them should things go wrong.
