Bulletin 24 – Why do 186 million people worldwide choose credit unions?

This Thursday October 21 is International Credit Union Day, a day celebrated internationally on the third Thursday of October since its inception in 1948.

International Credit Union Day aims to create awareness and celebrate the ways credit unions improve the lives of their members around the world.

“There are excellent reasons why nearly 186 million people in 97 countries across the world are members of credit unions. Credit unions play a vital role in the economic development and stability of the communities they serve, helping people improve their lives through access to affordable financial services and supporting their local communities,” said Louise Petschler, CEO of Abacus – Australian Mutuals.
