New General Manager Code Compliance and Monitoring at FOS

Dr Sue-Anne Wallace, Independent Chair of the Customer Owned Banking Code Compliance Committee, welcomes the appointment of Ms Sally Davis as General Manager of Code Compliance and Monitoring at the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and Chief Executive Officer, Code Compliance Monitoring Committee (Code of Banking Practice). Ms Davis’ appointment is effective on 1 September 2015.

The appointment has been made on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising Dr Sue-Anne Wallace, Mr Christopher Doogan AM, Independent Chair, Code Compliance Monitoring Committee, and Mr Shane Tregillis, Chief Ombudsman, Financial Ombudsman Service.

Ms Davis is currently Senior Manager of Systemic Issues at FOS and has worked at FOS and its predecessor schemes for almost 15 years. Ms Davis is an accredited mediator and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma (Arts) from Monash University.

As General Manager of Code Compliance and Monitoring, Ms Davis will provide leadership to the FOS Code team, a separately operated and funded business unit of FOS. It supports the Code Compliance Committee to monitor compliance with the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice to achieve service standards people can trust.

FOS Code also assists three other independent Code Compliance Committees in their oversight and monitoring of compliance with the Code of Banking Practice, Insurance Brokers Code of Practice, and General Insurance Code of Practice.

“Ms Davis brings to this position extensive experience in financial services, as well as good relationships with regulators, industry and consumer groups from her work as Senior Manager of Systemic Issues at FOS,” Mr Tregillis said.
