Want to sharpen your Code compliance skills or better advocate for your clients who bank with customer owned banks?

Training is available to help industry and consumers understand and uphold their rights and responsibilities under the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice.

Consumer advocates

The Code Compliance and Monitoring team (the Code Team) at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) works with key consumer advocates to promote Code awareness in the sector, including through its:

  • Partnership with the Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman and Energy and Water Ombudsman schemes in Victoria, NSW and South Australia to provide training to financial counsellors.
  • Partnership with the Financial & Consumer Rights Council to provide training to financial counsellors through the council’s professional development program.
